SHARP EYES – LEARN BETTER
Association of Community Ophthalmologists of Sri Lanka (SLACO) Vision Impairment among school children is a silent barrier to education, especially in under privileged communities. Early detection and correction through vision screening and the provision of prescription spectacles is a proven, cost effective intervention. A child’s vision test, or vision screening, is a process used to identify vision problems in children. It typically involves assessing visual acuity, eye alignment, and eye muscle function, often using charts with letters, symbols, or pictures. These tests are crucial for detecting conditions like amblyopia (“lazy eye”) and other vision issues that can affect a child’s development and learning.
